About the Photographer

Cyril Albrecht likes to initiate large scale, sometimes multi-year, photographic projects.

Since committing to photography after a prior professional life, his practice has always been closely connected with travel and wanderings, often far away from his native Europe.

He is fascinated by the landscape, its inherent beauty or evocative power but also its ability to reveal stories about man and earth (being, quite literally, the soil beneath our own feet).  In his photographs he is particularly interested in conveying a sense of space and scale, almost palpable at times, as well as exploring the land’s relation to time and history.

Most recently, his works have developed an increasingly formal, pictorial, focus while trying to preserve an immersive quality through highly detailed large prints.

When not on the road, he lives and works in Belgium.
